Graham Maclagan
Graham Maclagan was born in 1985. He began his musical training in the Highland village of Kingussie where he was appointed as Parish Organist in 2000.
Following secondary education, he read music at the University of Edinburgh. Graham’s interest in choral and liturgical music was developed during his studies, and the history of music in Christian worship formed part of his honours degree. During this time, he was a member of the Edinburgh University Singers, and was fortunate to conduct them singing in Notre Dame Cathedral and L’église de la Madeleine, Paris; and in the Usher Hall, Edinburgh. He also acted as Assistant Musical Director of Edinburgh Studio Opera’s production of Benjamin Britten’s opera Albert Herring. His work with choirs and productions earned him the Ian Pitt-Watson Memorial Prize for Choral Conductors, which he received at graduation in 2007.
Graham is Assistant Organist and Choirmaster at the Parish Church of St Cuthbert, Edinburgh, and also holds a full-time music teaching appointment at George Heriot’s School. He was appointed Choirmaster of the Practice Choir in September 2010.
