Some singing exercises

Here are some simple singing exercises to help you focus on the basics of singing – breathing, tongue position, and resonance.

Why practise? So that all of this becomes completely automatic, so that while singing you can focus on the music itself.

Singing on one Note

Pick the note that you are most comfortable singing, and sing it for as long as you can to improve your breath support.

(The start of this video is a short chat, and the lesson proper starts after about 1minute 50 seconds).

The Three Step Scale

A simple singing exercise to be repeated often, for both vocal improvement and endorphin release.

These videos are made by Joy Sikorski, primarily to teach mothers to learn to sing with their children. However the lessons apply to singing for all ages.
