Intervals – music theory

This is a page of videos which support students who are studying for Associated Board Music Theory Grade. As this suggests, the page gives theoretical information about intervals, so that when someone talks about a “major fourth”, you will know what they mean. Help with actually singing these intervals will come elsewhere.

The information is all interesting, though some of it is beyond what you will need for choral singing.

Understanding Intervals: Part 1
This video introduces the basics of determining simple intervals.

Understanding Intervals: Part 2
The next video in the series (aimed at those studying for Grade 3 ABRSM Music Theory exams).

Understanding Intervals: Part 3
The third video in the series (aimed at those studying grade 4 ABRSM music theory exams).

This video is for interest only – it is beyond what you’ll need for everyday choral singing, unless you happen to be conducting.
