Music notation
The videos on this page are at a basic level, introducing the rudiments of musical notation. They may be useful revision if it is a while since you last sang.
Fundamentals of musical notation
This video introduces the elements of written music – the stave, the bass and treble clef, the length and pitch of notes, and the time signature.
Practising with rhythms
This video starts to introduce the idea of rhythm, with the beat sounding in the background.
If you have difficulty keeping track of the beat, or counting beats, then try tapping your foot to keep track of the beat, and clapping the rhythm at the same time.
More practising with rhythms
This is a bit of fun illustrating common rhythms using quavers, semiquavers and rests, with the beat sounding in the background. It also introduces the idea of counting beats through a bar.
There is a slightly baffling bit in the middle, but it becomes more instructive again towards the end.
